Chandler Teams up with Under Armour for PAVE Design Challenge
Supporting student design at GlobalShop 2016
Minneapolis, MN – March 9, 2016 – Chandler recently announced the student winners of the 2016 PAVE Student Design Challenge, a unique design contest where students gain real world experience working with retailers and manufacturers. The resulting designs from the participants are then brought to life at GlobalShop, allowing the students’ works to be seen by the leaders in the retail design and visual merchandising industries.
Planning and Visual Education Partnership (PAVE) is a vital and effective organization that enables young talent to build successful careers in all aspects of the retail industry.
“We are thrilled to be a supporter for the PAVE organization,” said John Chandler, CEO and President for Chandler. “As a design and manufacturing company, it is our responsibility to provide today’s student designers, exposure to live projects through a mentoring format; thereby ensuring a solid start for these future members of our industry.”
Chandler and Under Armour teamed up to challenge students from Dakota County Technical College to create an in-store display that promotes a featured product. Ten teams of two students participated in the PAVE Challenge and only one team was selected to have their design built by Chandler.
With the student team selected, Under Armour’s Senior Manager Global Store Development, Patrick Stringer and Senior Retail Marketing Manager, Christiana DiMattesa, raised the stakes for the students. From the winning design concept, the team, with Chandler’s guidance, would now have to turn their design into a “fixture of the future”. This new fixture would showcase the connection between the digital and physical world through Under Armour’s Connected Fitness products.
At GlobalShop in Las Vegas, March 23 – March 25, 2016, Under Armour’s Fixture of the Future will be revealed at the PAVE booth area near the main entrance of the show. Be prepared to step into the world of Augmented Reality, brought to life by Blippar and Mode, the digital experience groups who developed the AR content for the booth.
At the Chandler/Under Armour Booth (located in the PAVE area near the main entrance):
- See how the UA HealthBox Products: Band, Heart Rate and Scale can connect you directly with your own health information and others in the community.
- Preview the all new UA Speedform Gemini 2 Record-Equipped Running Shoes.

“We couldn’t be more excited to bring together students, schools and manufacturers with our design project at GlobalShop again this year. We are so thrilled to showcase the creativity that is happening in the minds of these “next generation” designers, and we are thankful to GlobalShop, the students, their professors and schools, and our industry partners for helping us bring this to life.” Harry Cunningham, president, PAVE.
