MINNESOTA’S READY TO HOST #SB52 AND SHOW OFF ITS #BOLDNORTH SIDE
At Capsule’s Think and Link this week, Wendy Blackshaw, SVP of Marketing for the MN Super Bowl Host Committee, announced several exciting events and activities being planned for the big game day LII. Eyes and ears were dialed in as Wendy eloquently shared insider details, carefully describing the Minnesota spotlight in which the committee eagerly awaits. Each year, a fierce competition ensues as cities throughout the U.S. vie to be host of the NFL Super Bowl. This year, excitingly enough, Minnesota has been awarded this coveted position.
With each big game day comes its list of challenges—like how to maneuver several tons of halftime equipment throughout an urban setting—but it also has an even longer list of positive takeaways that extend far past actual game day. For instance, the big game generates over 500 billion Twitter and Instagram posts alone (how we consume information these days…um…that’s huge!). And, it’s estimated that this year’s big game will generate a $400 million economic impact. Without question, this event is an exciting opportunity for the host city to make a positive impression on the world, further promoting its culture, hospitality, and most importantly—it’s people.
The MN Super Bowl Host Committee is propelled to share with the world on game day—and of course the days leading up—just how unique and special Minnesota is to live in and explore. Under the spotlight, the committee plans to embrace the cold, snowy winters with its proud slogan: the #BoldNorth. The festivities will include ice sculptures, bridges made of snow and dog sledding—because, heck, why not!? The committee plans to connect visitors with the St. Paul Winter Carnival, Nicollet Mall and Dayton’s. They also have setup The Legacy Fund, 52 weeks of giving, that will raise money to help every Minnesota child build lifelong healthy habits.
Don’t worry, they haven’t forgotten about football. Nestled within the Minneapolis Convention Center will be a football fanatic’s dream featuring loads of NFL and football experiences for all ages.
Among its 10,000 volunteers and former No. 52 (what a coinkydink!) Minnesota Vikings linebacker, Chad Greenway, as its captain—Super Bowl LII is going to leave folks feeling pretty darn good about “The Bold North.” Congrats to Minnesota on this rare and thrilling opportunity!
