PAVE Student Design Challenge

Chandler partnered with Under Armour and Dakota County Technical College to participate in the 2016 PAVE Student Design Challenge, a unique design contest where students gain real world experience working with retailers and manufacturers.  The resulting designs from the participants are then brought to life at GlobalShop, allowing the students’ works to be seen by the leaders in the retail design and visual merchandising industries.

PAVE Design Challenge: At GlobalShop, PAVE offers a unique design challenge that engages retailers, manufacturers and design schools. This competition allows students to take part in a real-world project and offers retailers and manufacturers the opportunity to take part in a project that could be a prototype for the retailer and a new project for the manufacturer. The resulting designs from the participants are then brought to life at GlobalShop, allowing the students’ works to be seen by the leaders in the retail design and visual merchandising industries.

PAVE is a vital and effective organization that enables young talent to build successful careers in all aspects of the retail industry.

Fan Favorite Fixture

The Under Armour/DCTC/Chandler presentation fixture was voted “Fan Favorite” by GlobalShop attendees, and these votes also provided over 1,000 social media hits for PAVE.

“Supporting student design and engaging Under Armour with an exciting new fixture was a win even before we reached GlobalShop,” said John Chandler, CEO and President for Chandler. “We were excited to see that everyone’s hard work on this exercise won Fan Favorite at GlobalShop.”

The PAVE Challenge was a team effort.  We would like to thank the Dakota County Technical College students, Dyonne Danielson and Cassie Behnke for their hard work and creative designs. Thank you to Jeremiah Albrecht, Creative Director for Chandler for his guidance and support for the design project. Thank you to the Under Armour team: Senior Manager Global Store Development, Patrick Stringer and Senior Retail Marketing Manager, Christiana DiMattesa, for their creative direction and for raising the stakes to include Augmented Reality (AR) within the booth/fixture. And, to Blippar and Made by Mode for providing the technology and content which brought the Under Armour fixture to life with AR technology.
